The Veil, home to many diverse races and Alliances, is a bloody, yet beautiful place. While it coexists with The Mortal World through multiple Portals, they are very different universes, and might as well be different planets. The Veil might as well be an exact opposite of The Mortal World, because everywhere there exists bodies of water in The Mortal World, there exists land in The Veil. Everywhere a body of water exists in The Veil, land masses exist in The Mortal World. Despite the fact that there's so much more land in The Veil, it's less organized, and is covered in natural forests, and has little to no pollution. While the people of The Veil know about the portals to The Mortal World, most mortals have no idea about The Veil. Most who discovered it have been killed.
Despite the good, The Veil is known for quite the bloody feats, and, since there's so much more land, there's a lot more people, which leaves enough space for all the races of The Veil.
The earliest known information about The Veil begins 30 Millennium ago, when The Elves, the first known race of The Veil, began constructing their cities. Using a very early method of writing, they relayed information throughout the construction site, coordinating the builders, and having the city made through manpower and magic within 10 years, creating the grand city of Novatin, in it's newest and most beautiful state.
Not much eventful happened until almost 10 Millennium later, when the first records Beast-People and Demigods popped up, confirming the existence of the gods that The Elves worshiped. Both of these races are believed to be descended from Elves, because the Beast-People have Elven ears and teeth, and the first Demigods were half Elf exclusively. When these races spawned, they were generally disorganized and scattered. A small nation of Beast-People existed, but it wasn't stable. Tribes of Demigods were scattered across the globe.
Not 5,000 years later, Elven Demigods and Beast-Person Demigods alike formed a massive army, banding together for the first time in their history. Thus, the Elven War began. The Elven and Beast-Person nations allied to fight the Demigods, but, being children of the Gods, they were too powerful for mere Elven Farmers and mill workers. The Beast-Person nation was wiped out, and 6 out of the 7 great Elven Cities were destroyed. The only reason the 7th, the Capital, Novatin, survived this war was thanks to the powerful warding magic the Elves possessed.
While in Hiding for the next 5 Millennium, the Monsters, Demimonsters, Shapeshifters, and Nymphs popped up in The Veil. The Elves, believed to be dead, became nothing more than a myth, and Monsters roamed the wild, terrorizing the Demigods and Beast-People, who were the two dominant races at the time. Demigods lived in Camps, and the Beast-People began Haven, the Trading Caravan. Shapeshifters began small towns, and Nymphs started colonies. The world went on normally for the next few Millennium.
15 Millennium ago, the Elves reappeared. After being thought to be dead. They were considered myths come to life, and revered at first, before they hunted any Demigod who came near their final city, Novatin, which had been worn by time, and weakened by hopelessness. The Elven nation was restored, but not nearly to their full glory.
Not even days after the Elves returned, the entire world of The Veil went white. Every creature everywhere passed out, seeing white, and a massive heat surge appeared. It is believed that on this day, the Gods became angered that the Elves had stopped worshiping them in the time that they disappeared, and as punishment, merged their world with one considered far inferior to their own, poisoned by pollution and covered in war. When they awakened, A group of Demigod scouts were the first people to cross into The Mortal World, discovering Humans, and their culture. The people of The Veil, shocked by the portal, came together, and used magic in order to bind the Portal, to keep one constant entrance to the other world. They build strongholds in the other world, many plotting to take it as their own, others trying to take the technology discovered by the Mortals to their world.
Though they have tried to understand, no one alive today was alive during the Merging of The Worlds. The mystery as to exactly why it happened is still unknown, and it is unknown if the worlds will ever go their separate ways again. For now, the people of The Veil try their best to make do with the situation, without being noticed by Mortals led astray into The Veil.
It should be further noted that The original portal to the Mortal World is heavily guarded, and under control of the demigods currently. Since the Merging, several more portals have popped up, but all of them have perhaps not been found, with the large expanses of uninhabited territory in The Veil.
