Since the update to TGCHB, we've begun allowing people to have their characters infected with Lycanthropy and Vampirism. Because of this, I'll be explaining some things about Lycanthropes, Vampires, and Vrykolaka!
Let's start with Lycanthropes. There are many stereotypes which say they only transform into their beastly form at the Full Moon. However, this is untrue, as those born Lycanthropes can transform at will, no matter the time of day, or stage of the moon.
The disease of Lycanthropy is much different from the species, however. The disease can only be contracted by a Lycanthrope making a flesh wound on the target, which usually ends in death. Those who survive overgo a period of extreme pain, confusion, and sickness. For about 24 hours, they'll remain in this confused state, and then, they'll go through their first transformation, which is one of the most painful things a person can go through. Their flesh stretches along with their skin, ripping and mutating, until they are in their beastly state. From there, they'll have no control over themselves, and mindlessly kill anything living nearby, and, in extreme cases, destroy everything around them. After this, however, they gain control over their beastly form, even though they transform forcibly every week. Lycanthropy is not an exact science, and so some people may transform longer or more often than others. Some people may have more control over it than others, too. Lycanthropy is permanent, and cannot be cured. It leaves all victims weak to Silver, but gives them more strength in Human form, too.
Vampires are similar to Werewolves, except they don't have multiple forms. Those who are born as Vampires require blood to sustain themselves, due to the lack of a living body. Because of their dead bodies, Vampires cannot be born as stillborns.
The Vampirism Disease can be acquired from any Vampiric creature, by having the creature inflict a bite wound. Vampiric creatures carrying the disease include Empousai, Lamia, and Mormo. Upon being infected, the Victim slowly begins to die, throughout the course of 24 hours. When they have entirely died, their soul will be rejected by the Underworld, due to the impurity of them, and be sent back to their body, where the disease will allow them to regain control. From there, they'll have a massive need for blood, since the blood flow in their bodies will have entirely stopped. Usually, unless they have an unusually strong control over their mind, the victim will proceed to kill and eat the first creature/person they encounter. This is all extremely painful, and they don't even begin to regain consciousness until after they have fed for the first time. From this transformation, Vampires gain speed and senses, giving them more awareness over their surroundings, and the ability to escape whenever necessary. However, they gain a weakness to fire, and are less accepted by humans.
Vrykolaka are considered abominations, and don't occur in nature. They are the result of a human or humanoid being infected with both Lycanthropy and Vampirism at the same time, leaving them undead, beastly, and powerful. Not much is known about Vrykolaka, but they are very rare, and usually are created on purpose, either for human testing, or power-hungry people.
