This is a list of known Races within The Veil, the field of reality that exists outside of Mortal life. Facts, lifespans, variations, and known abilities of these races will also be included.
Demigods-
Demigods are people who are half-god and half-something else. Though they're best known for being Half-God and Half-Human, it's fairly common to have demigods who are Half-Elf, Half-Beast-Person, Half-Nymph, etc. They have a natural talent for magic, beaten only by the Elves. They have slightly prolonged lifetimes due to their godly blood.
Average Lifespan: 150 Years(Human) 1.5 Millennium(Elven), 500 years(Beast-Person)
Elves-
Elves are one of the most ancient people of The Veil, and are well-known for their beautiful ruins, and extraordinary strong Magical abilities. They mostly died out a few millennium ago, due to the rise of Demigods, who killed many of them unexpectedly, by destroying their cities. The only reason they survived the attacks, is because they fled to their capital, and warded it against the Demigods. Due to being locked in Novatin for Millennium, they are rather uncivilized and cold, especially towards Demigods.
Average Lifespan: 1 Millennium (1,000,000 years)
Beast-People-
Beast-People are one of the more diverse races, looking like elves, except with the body parts of animals. Each Beast-Person looks like only one animal, for example, a Beast-Person could not have a dog tail and cat ears. Normally these changes are more subtle, like a tail or some whiskers, or just the legs of their animal. However, in more extreme cases, a Beast-Person could look no different from their animal at all, being indistinguishable from a bear, goat, cat, dog, or other animal. They are known for having an average control over magic, but very strong physical prowess. Due to being locked in Novatin with the Elves for Millennium, they are on good terms with the Elves, but rather hostile towards Demigods and Demimonsters, who both played a part in destroying the Beast-Person Nation.
Average Lifespan: 300 years
Humans-
Humans are rather rare in The Veil, as they often don't have the strength or comprehension of the other dimension. They have no notable special powers, other than being extremely resistant to magic and being completely resistant to most of The Veil's metals. They make good
Average Lifespan: 80 years
Lycanthropes-
Not to be confused with the Disease of Lycanthropy, these are people who can transform into massive wolfish beasts at will. They are extremely powerful creatures, with enhanced physical strength. Their worst vulnerability is silver, which weakens to the point of death, in extreme cases. Not much is known about Lycanthropes, as they are a scattered race, with no large groups of them.
Average Lifespan: 100 years
Vampires-
Vampires are similar to Lycanthropes, and are also not to be confused with the Disease of Vampirism. They're identified because of the sharp fangs that protrude from their gums, though, unlike many seem to think, all of their teeth are sharp and pointed, in order to make feeding easier. They are known for having to drink some kind of blood at least every 48 hours in order to survive. They have good control over their magic, though it is fairly average in strength.
Average Lifespan: 125 years
Zodiac Shapeshifters-
Zodiac Shapeshifters are a type of Shapeshifter, which can transform into the animal of the Chinese Zodiac that they were born under. For example, if a person was born in 2001, they'd be born under the Year of the Metal Snake, so their shapeshifting form would be a metal snake. If they were born in 2002, they'd be born under the Year of the Water Horse, so they'd be able to shapeshift into a horse made of water, and so on. They have rather short lifespans, because their shapeshifting takes more energy than other shapeshifters.
Average Lifespan: 65 years
Demimonsters-
Demimonsters are similar to Demigods, except rather than being born to a God and another creature, they are born to a Monster and another creature. Like Zodiac Shapeshifters, they are also a form of Shapeshifter, due to the impossibility of monsters roaming freely. When born directly of a monster and an Elf, for example, they would normally look like an Elf, but would be able to shapeshift themselves to look like the monster that parented them. Demimonsters are generally a hated bunch, so they stay in their Humanoid form more often. Only Demigods and Elves have strong enough magic to detect their true nature, so they usually avoid them.
Average Lifespan: 200 years
Nymphs-
Nymphs are very similar to Elves, except they control specific things. A rock nymph would control one specific rock, and a river nymph one specific river. They're very common, but usually rather hard to find. Nymphs are the spirits of nature, and are generally little-known and very powerful.
Average Lifespan: Varies on type. Nymphs live only as long as the element under their control. While certain Animal nymphs would live no longer than a year or so, many Earth or Water Nymphs could live Millennium.
